prompt 5
Throughout all of out reading on writing and how to imporve your writing there were things that i have learned that seemed to be of great use and there were things that i have already known that was more like review. One good thing that I thought was valuable was the delievery of Williams. I have always went through school with teachers and professors telling me how to write and showing me the correct way to write but never knowing why and even sometimes how to go about doing so.
I learned about the right way to structure a sentence and why it is so important. I also learned where commasz should be placed and how people make the mistake of just placing them anywhere or in the wrong spots. Also Elegance was the topic for chapter 9. they discussed where to place prepositions and how to stregthen a sentence

Prompt 4
I have read several of my classmates blogs and Strunk & White and WIlliams and it seems to me that everyone had the same views towards both of the texts. One blog site I viewed was Roberts, and he stated a few things that i had previously said in my blog that i highly agreed with. he first states that "Williams takes the time to explain why certain steps should be taken and explains how they improve your writing. He gives solid examples to refer to if his points are unclear." This seems to be the point that everyone is making in their blogs and even though Williams seem to be more in depth and more clear most of my peers would choose Strunk & White over Williams. One thing that Robert also said that didn't cross my mind was that "Williams writing also comes off as less authoritative than Strunk and White's. You can read it with the understanding that you aren't the only one to make some of these writing mistakes and many times they are done by highly respected writers." These rules that both authors are giving seems to be mistakes that not only i make but others make as well and i shouldn't feel bad because they all are so common.
Another blog that i viewed was Kacey's she said "There are pros and cons for each approach. Williams is a great way to teach writing, and show how to become a better writer." This was a great point because Kacey showed that even though each book gave rules and guidelines to writing they had different purposes. i would aagree that anyone trying to teach writing would read Williams an get more valuable information before Strunk & White.

I have read both books, the one from Strunk & White and the one from Williams. I felt that they both were useful in the fact that they were able to offer ideas and rules to strengthen my writing. For some odd reason i enjoed Strunk and white more than Willams. I don't think it was because it was shorter in length but it was more like a manual. I think that if i was in the middle if writing a paper and need to refer to a certain rule i would fine Strunk and WHite more useful. It seems to me that is what is needed most for myself as well as other students.
Willliams approach was more direct in the sense that it not only gave rules and examples, but it also answered the how and the why to each rule. it gave you a better understanding on how to go about doing certain things.I think that this was a great approach and very helpful, but i dont think i would use it as much as i would use Strunk and WHite.

I decided to rewrite this paragraph with some things that i thought were helpful from the text.
The University offers bachelor's, master's and specialist's degrees, as well as a doctoral degree in, appropriately, educational leadership. In all, more than 400 academic majors, minors and concentrations are delivered through Eastern's five degree-granting colleges and its graduate school.
Eastern Michigan offers bachelor's, master's and specialist's degrees, as well as a doctoraldegree in education leadership. More that 400 academic majors, minors and concentrations are delievered through Eastern's five degree-granting college and it's graduate school.
the first thing I have done was to have gotten rid of the known. Things that were common sense to the readers, that may have taken up space. I felt that there were too many comma that were unnecessary so I just changed some of the wording also to accomadate that.

There are a lot of things that i have learned from reading Strunk and White that I didn't know, but felt like was common since. And from getting other people views about it i see that i was not the only one.
In the beginning he goes to discuss using apostrophes and how to correct possesive nouns. The one thing that i always make a mistake on is getting its and it's mixed up. They stated that it's is a contraction for it is, which i knew but that its is possesive which i had no clue. truthfully I thought they were for the same purposes. This was one of the rules that I liked and was interested in.
One rule that I am still curious about is comma usage. he gave examples on when and where to place commas but i know that i still mess up on this rule. there are times that i put a comma here and there just for the sake of it or because i feel that i need one. They go on to say how you are suppose to place a comma before a conjunction introducing an independent clause. I believe that could have elaborated more with these examples. maybe then i would have gotten a better undertstanding of it.

Socio-Economic Standards
some socio-economic standards of writing and technology can one be a persons handwriting. I know that was used to configure what class you were in back then, but I still feel that today it can tell a lot about a person. Also whether a person is literate to technology as i.e a computer. the computer is used widely in most of todays field, and it can tell how much schooling a person has had or what type of job they have held.

REFLECTION OF COMPUTER VS. PEN
as i reviewed my work i was able to see that most of my syntax did not make a lot of sense. my wording, sentences and paragraphs were jumpy because they were reflecting all of my thoughts, and i was not able to erase anything. i saw that as i began to write my views on this subject also changed because i felt that i could not make no true justifyable argument when indeed i did.

COMPUTER VS. PEN
I feel that because i am so use to handwritten assignments, i believe that there is more of a connection with my feeling as i write with a pen and pad, as oppose to computer aid writing. It seems more as a draft when writing on paper, but when reviewing my work, i am able to distinguish certain thoughts that i had when writing different passages.
I believe that there are too many technical errors that can take place when using computers. A lot of computers freeze, sometimes your work isn't saved properly, and they always point out technical errors that you may have made even if they are correct.
A lot of times most authors and or poets like to sit in secluded areas with their journals or notepads and take note of what they are thinking and feeling. this is the time and place where they write most of their creative work, which is limited to certain computer settings.

My name is Jessica Lynn Norwood and I am a 21 year old senior here at Eastern Michigan University. My major is secondary education; English, Literature and Writing for Teachers and my minor is Communication and Theatre Arts. I am going into education because as long as I can remember I have always wanted to teach. I never wanted a 9-5 job that was behind the desk where I had to do a job that my boss always detailed. I would never have no feeling to that kind of job or leave at the end of the day feeling like I have made a difference. I want that feeling, which is why I want to teach. Even though English is not one of my expertise, I am in college to gain more knowledge of the subject.
Now that I have introduced myself I feel that everyone has had the problem of not understanding a certain style, flow or some form of technology. I have started a new job at a department store to where I was totally confused about what it was that I was suppose to do or even do. I had and still have no feeling for the job what so ever, which is why I am happy to say that it is only a temporary job and not some career as with some of my co-workers. I was told my job description and was in training for a few days, but that does not prepare you accurately for your true job. When I got on the floor I was so confused that I was aggravated and upset. At that time I wanted to quit. It seemed like everyone understood everything but me. It took me several days to get comfortable with the atmosphere and my duties, to where I didn’t mind coming to work. Things have eased up now, but I am still grateful that it is only temporary.
